5 things you need this summer

As the weather gets warmer (read: boiling) not only your wardrobe changes but so should and your skincare routine. What worked during still nippy spring might not pull through during burning summer months. There I am sharing few of my recommendations for summer glowing skin.

Face mask

I feel like everyone should have a calming, nourishing face mask for the summer. No matter the amount of sunscreen I apply, I still manage to get sunburn occasionally (why is it always the nose?..). I love my Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It smells like apples and cinnamon (I don’t know why, but the apple pie was the first thing I thought of when I smelled it). I like to slather a thick layer of it on my face. Sometimes I even leave it overnight if my skin is acting up. Afterwards, my skin is visibly clearer, plumper and looks brighter. And those sunburns? Almost without a fault, redness is gone the next day.

Toner

Summer is the time for glowing, healthy skin. I hate dry patches throughout the year, but on summer they look extra bad. I found the best way to achieve a glowing hydrated skin is to layer hydrating products (…who would have thought…). I am currently enjoying The Body Shop British Rose Petal-Soft Gel Toner. Its texture is something in between toner and essence. I like to apply it using my hands as it’s not the runny formula as your usual toners, so few pats all over the face does the job. It feels thick but doesn’t stay on the surface of the skin for long. Quick and efficient way to make your skin plump and summer ready.

Moisturiser

BIODERMA Sensibio AR Anti-Redness Care became my moisturiser of choice. Besides it being hydrating (I am practically swimming in hydration products as of late) it also calms your skin down and reduces redness. I am on my second tube of it and have noticed an improvement in my skin texture, reduced redness and dry spots. I also have been loving Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer. It is lighter than Bioderma one in texture and feels refreshing. The scent itself makes me get up in the mornings and get moving. Love.

Sunscreen

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Face Ultra-Light Fluid SPF50+ is my holy grail sunscreen. There are some I love too, but those are mainly Korean or Japanese ones (the only ones to not make my oily skin even worse). This one I slather all over me, not just face. It has a high SPF of 50 and so far I had not had a sunburn after applying it. I can claim in good authority that it works perfectly. I can even tell when I miss a spot as that is the only place that gets burned. During holidays we were climbing into Vesuvius and the sun was going straight into our faces (there is a serious need to rethink what we consider entertainment…). Guess who did not get sunburned? ME! It also adds moisture to the skin. Not enough to make you a greasy mess, but enough to nicely moisture all of your dry spots. Seriously, not once my makeup got caught on a dry patch after a layer of this.

Body lotion

Just because. I love the smell of it. As the layers of clothing shrunk and more skin is exposed I want it to not be dry and flaky, but then I am so not onboard for waiting up to an hour for a body lotion to absorb. The Body Shop British Rose Body Yogurt came as an easy, great smelling and the most importantly fast way to take care of my skin.
