Bloggers made my buy it

I would like to think that I am pretty immune to the blogger hype and subsequent need to have it. But sometimes even I succumb to the massive hypes going around and all of the following below are results of that moment of weakness…

Caudalie Beauty Elixir was the product I was eyeing the longest. I would listen to how amazing it is again and again and finally, I purchased it. With a number of raves, I have been hearing I expected magical, life changing mist. It smells refreshing and relaxing, but nothing I couldn’t live without. I don’t feel like it does anything for my skin and I am certainly not going to pull it out of my bag in the middle of the day to spray myself (aromatherapy aspect of it would be appreciated, but lets try to be mindful of the people around you who might not enjoy the smell or have asthma). In the end of the day it sits on my bedside table and sometimes I would use it to wound down from the day, but certainly not something I reach for every day or would miss when it’s all gone.

I hate matte lipsticks. HATE. They are drying, accentuate lip lines and make you look 10 years older. The only time they looked good on me is the precious seconds after applying them. No lip balm beforehand or lip gloss afterward makes it better. I feel like the staying power is just not worth it. I will reapply, thanks. At this point, you are probably wondering why the heck did I bought Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick. Don’t laugh…I didn’t notice it was a matte formula and yes it is in its name… If I did, I wouldn’t have purchased it and I am glad I did. I don’t know how she did it, but the formula is amazing. It goes on smoothly, doesn’t move anywhere and stays on through the day (some touch up required after eating). All this without that drying feeling (feels kind of moisturizing even) or making your lips look wrinkly and gross.

Pixi Glow Tonic. I remember it used to be such a pain to find it. It always used to be either out of stock or sorry we can’t ship it to you. That’s what drove me to get it. I needed it. At one point I got my hands on a sample sized bottle of it and I loved it to the last drop. Later it becomes more readily available and I finally purchased my first full-sized bottle (that is the actual bottle in the picture). I used it at first, but afterwards, I stopped reaching for it. I purely blame the lack of moisture in my skin at that time. It just didn’t stand a chance. After a few months and intense hydration, I tried it again, then again and again… Now it’s one of my must-have products every evening. Totally worth the hype.

Shiseido Facial Cotton Make Up Pads. Yes, we are that fancy. Our cotton is from Japan (don’t laugh, I actually ordered it from Japan), and we love it. And we don’t know why we are speaking writing in the third person. I have a sensitive skin and some cotton feels rather scratchy on my skin and can irritate it, so after hearing so many people love it, I bought it. From Japan. Cause they don’t sell it around here… Either way, it’s good. Amazing actually. It’s soft and doesn’t absorb much product. I say totally worth the hype (is there even a hype?).

L’Oréal Paris Paradise Mascara. I don’t think there can be an as frustrating product as this one. Do you know when they released it in the USA? I don’t, but it was a long time ago. Everyone was raving about it and I was sitting there – nope, still not available in Europe. As it finally got to this side of the ocean (probably in a rowing boat) I grabbed it immediately. You should too, cause it’s great (every time anyone uses this phrase it starts repeating itself in my head in that America first, _____ the second video’s voice, is it just me?). It gives full and fluttery lashes that last all day. So worth the hype.
