Joy of throwing stuff out or foundation decluter

Foundation decluter

I have a problem. It’s called foundation. There’s nothing wrong with it besides the amount I seemed to have gathered without noticing. And I mean there’s a lot. Like A LOT.

The obvious side of the problem is that there’s no way I will be able to use them all up. The sheer amount of product would last me around 10 years. If we wouldn’t mind the fact, that not all the colours still work for me. There either was a time when I had a tan or considerably overestimated it.

Most of the bottles are from a drugstore. I tried some, loved some and used for a long time. Until the next one came around. That is the main reason I have an abundance of them. I don’t seem to have this problem with high-end fountains, for I usually do more research and try it out before purchasing. The price difference makes you be a little bit more self-conscious.

Either way, as I finally noticed my hoarding tendencies (aka I have no free space), I decided to let most of them go. It’s a long overdue as you can see from the pictures. I have an inkling that there is more, hiding and bidding their time.

Some of those bottles are way beyond the expiration date. And that is just…nasty. All of those are going to a trash bin. It’s extremely eye opening when two thirds of the pile is a trash one. Any good ones and still suitable for usage, I passed on to my mom. At least she will be able to make use of it.

In the end, I kept only 3 foundations:

  • DIOR Forever Undercover Foundation which I am currently using and loving. It was great through summer months (everything that can stand 36°C heat is amazing), but as a weather cools down, I noticed it is not performing as well as it used to.
  • Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation. I bought it not that long ago, but haven’t used all that much. I feel like it’s more suited for colder months, so I have been rekindling my love to it. Although I could do without the overly perfumed scent.

I feel kinda bad for throwing everything out. Talk about consumerism… On the other hand, I think like the followup needs to happen, for my hoarder instincts are strong.
